Full Description : "A scavenger robot wanders in the wasteland created by a war that has destroyed humanity in this evocative post-apocalyptic "robot western" from the critically acclaimed author, screenwriter, and noted film critic. It’s been thirty years since the apocalypse and fifteen years since the murder of the last human being at the hands of robots. Humankind is extinct. Every man, woman, and child has been liquidated by a global uprising devised by the very machines humans designed and built to serve them. Most of the world is controlled by an OWI—One World Intelligence—the shared consciousness of millions of robots, uploaded into one huge mainframe brain. But not all robots are willing to cede their individuality—their personality—for the sake of a greater, stronger, higher power. These intrepid resisters are outcasts; solo machines wandering among various underground outposts who have formed into an unruly civilization of rogue AIs in the wasteland that was once our world. One of these resisters is Brittle, a scavenger robot trying to keep a deteriorating mind and body functional in a world that has lost all meaning. Although unable to experience emotions like a human, Brittle is haunted by the terrible crimes the robot population perpetrated on humanity. As Brittle roams the Sea of Rust, a large swath of territory that was once the Midwest, the loner robot slowly comes to terms with horrifyingly raw and vivid memories—and nearly unbearable guilt. Sea of Rust is both a harsh story of survival and an optimistic adventure. A vividly imagined portrayal of ultimate destruction and desperate tenacity, it boldly imagines a future in which no hope remains, yet where a humanlike AI strives to find purpose among the ruins.
Sea of Rust invites the reader to think positively, if you ever find yourself in a bad condition, remember that even if you can lose everything else, your work, your property, your money and even your health knowledge can never be removed from you. HarperCollins"

In the novella 'The Soul Thief's Son' C. Robert Cargill returns to the terrain of the Queen of the Dark Things to continue the story of Colby Stevens . . . A Triceratops and an Ankylosaurus join forces to survive a zombie apocalypse that may spell extinction for their kind in 'Hell Creek' . . . In a grand old building atop a crack in the world, an Iraq War veteran must serve a one-year term as a punisher of the damned, condemned to consume the sins of others in the hope that one day he may find peace in 'In a Clean, White Room' (co-authored with Scott Derrickson). . . In 'The Town That Wasn't Anymore', the village of Pine Hill Bluff loses its inhabitants one at a time as the angry dead return when night falls to steal the souls of the living . . . Full Description : "Rust is a new systems programming language that combines the performance and low-level control of C and C++ with memory safety and thread safety. Rust’s modern, flexible types ensure your program is free of null pointer dereferences, double frees, dangling pointers, and similar bugs, all at compile time, without runtime overhead. In multi-threaded code, Rust catches data races at compile time, making concurrency much easier to use. Written by two experienced systems programmers, this book explains how Rust manages to bridge the gap between performance and safety, and how you can take advantage of it. Topics include: How Rust represents values in memory (with diagrams) Complete explanations of ownership, moves, borrows, and lifetimes Cargo, rustdoc, unit tests, and how to publish your code on crates.io, Rust’s public package repository High-level features like generic code, closures, collections, and iterators that make Rust productive and flexible Concurrency in Rust: threads, mutexes, channels, and atomics, all much safer to use than in C or C++ Unsafe code, and how to preserve the integrity of ordinary code that uses it Extended examples illustrating how pieces of the language fit together Programming Rust, when was the last time you read a book or an abstract magazine article? Are your daily reading habits directed against tweets, Facebook updates, or directions to your instant oatmeal pack? Full Description : "In the debut novel DREAMS AND SHADOWS, screenwriter and noted film critic C. Robert Cargill takes us beyond the veil, through the lives of Ewan and Colby, young men whose spirits have been enmeshed with the otherworld from a young age. This brilliantly crafted narrative - part Neil Gaiman, part Guillermo Del Torro, part William Burroughs - follows the boys from their star-crossed adolescences to their haunted adulthoods. Cargill's tour-de-force takes us inside the Limestone Kingdom, a parallel universe where whisky swilling genies and foul mouthed wizards argue over the state of the metaphysical realm. Having left the spirit world and returned to the human world, Ewan and Colby discover that the creatures from this previous life have not forgotten them, and that fate can never be sidestepped. With sensitivity and hopeful examination, Cargill illuminates a supernatural culture that all too eerily resembles our own. Set in a richly imagined and constructed world, complete with its own richly detailed history and mythology, DREAMS AND SHADOWS is a deeply engaging story about two extraordinary boys becoming men.
Dreams and Shadows makes the reader have stronger analytical thinking skills. Have you ever read an amazing book and did not solve the mystery itself? If so, then you can work on critical and analytical thinking, observe all the data provided and sort it out to determine anything. Gollancz"
Full Description : "Curious biological phenomena occur where land and sea alternate at low and high tides. Large crop-like populations of the perennial sea lavender (Limonium vulgare) appear and disappear over the years. Such vegetations are of great beauty, especially at bloom, and form a touristic attraction. Despite the extreme physical conditions they teem with life, among which are fertilising insects and fungi which cause plant disease. This book describes how long-lived sea lavender populations come and go, and how the fungal diseases "rust" and "mildew" may contribute to their going. The temporal and spatial distributions of rust and mildew epidemics are described. The annual cycle and the perennation of the rust (Uromyces limonii) are studied in detail. The unusual but important roles of sea water in the dispersal of the host plant and of its rust are sketched. The possible function of differential host resistance and of differential rust virulence is indicated. Data on the biology of sea lavender mildew (Erysiphe limonii) suggest that mildew and rust differ in lifestyle. Tolerance of sea lavender plants to rust and mildew is heritable and important, but does it last forever? Some theoretical implications for botany and phytopathology are tentatively discussed, especially the role of equilibrium or homoeostasis. However, the main focus of the book is on the facts collected in the salt marshes of the barrier island Terschelling, in the north of the Netherlands. This book with about 100 tables and some 100 figures provides new information of importance to botanists, plant pathologists, population biologists and general ecologists.

Full Description : "The Rust Programming Language is the official book on Rust; a community-developed, systems programming language that runs blazingly fast, prevents segfaults, and guarantees thread safety. Rust’s memory safety guarantees, enforced at compile time, safeguard your programs against the many problems that pervade other systems languages. Rust offers the control and performance of a low-level language with the helpful abstractions of a high level one, and does this all without having a garbage collector. These characteristics make Rust useful for embedding in other languages, programs with specific space and time requirements, and writing low-level code, like device drivers and operating systems. The Rust Programming Language begins with a quick hands-on project to introduce the basics, then explores key concepts in depth, such as ownership, the type system, error handling, and fearless concurrency. Detailed explanations of Rust-oriented takes on topics like pattern matching, iterators, and smart pointers combine with examples and exercises to take you from theory to practice. In addition to its thorough coverage of more granular topics, The Rust Programming Language will show you how to: -Grasp important concepts unique to Rust like ownership, borrowing, and lifetimes -Use Cargo, Rust’s built-in package manager, to build your code, including downloading and building dependencies -Effectively use Rust’s zero-cost abstractions and learn to build your own Developed with help from the community, The Rust Programming Language is your official guide to becoming a productive Rust programmer.

Full Description : "Set in the Australian bush, a wryly funny, beautifully observed novel about friendship, motherhood, love, and the importance of fighting for things that matter. Loretta Boskovic never dreamed she would end up a single mother with two kids in a dusty Australian country town. She never imagined she’d have to campaign to save the local primary school. She certainly had no idea her best friend would turn out to be the crusty old junk man. All in all, she’s starting to wonder if she took a wrong turn somewhere. If only she could drop the kids at the orphanage and start over . . . But now, thanks to her protest letters, the education minister is coming to Gunapan, and she has to convince him to change his mind about the school closure. And as if facing down the government isn’t enough, it soon becomes clear that the school isn’t the only local spot in trouble. In the drought-stricken bushland on the outskirts of town, a luxury resort development is about to siphon off a newly discovered springwater supply. No one seems to know anything, no one seems to care. With a dream lover on a Harley unlikely to appear to save the day, Loretta needs to stir the citizens of Gunapan to action. She may be short of money, influence, and a fully functioning car, but she has good friends. Together they can organize chocolate drives, supermarket sausage sizzles, a tour of the local slaughterhouse—whatever it takes to hold on to the scrap of world that is home. Warm, moving, and funny, The Fine Color of Rust is “a story about love: where we look for it, what we do with it, and how it shows up in the most unexpected packages” (Big Issue, Australia).
The Fine Color of Rust improves brain quality. Just like any other muscular body, the brain needs physical activity to keep it strong and healthy, so the phrase 'using it or losing it' is perfect when it comes to your mind. It was also found that batter and game play, such as chess, is useful for cognitive stimulation. Simon and Schuster"
