Love and War in Ancient China improves brain quality. Just like any other muscular body, the brain needs physical activity to keep it strong and healthy, so the phrase 'using it or losing it' is perfect when it comes to your mind. It was also found that batter and game play, such as chess, is useful for cognitive stimulation. City University of HK Press"
Full Description : "The Oxford Handbook of Chinese Linguistics offers a broad and comprehensive coverage of the entire field from a multi-disciplinary perspective. All chapters are contributed by leading scholars in their respective areas. This Handbook contains eight sections: history, languages and dialects, language contact, morphology, syntax, phonetics and phonology, socio-cultural aspects and neuro-psychological aspects. It provides not only a diachronic view of how languages evolve, but also a synchronic view of how languages in contact enrich each other by borrowing new words, calquing loan translation and even developing new syntactic structures. It also accompanies traditional linguistic studies of grammar and phonology with empirical evidence from psychology and neurocognitive sciences. In addition to research on the Chinese language and its major dialect groups, this handbook covers studies on sign languages and non-Chinese languages, such as the Austronesian languages spoken in Taiwan.
The Oxford Handbook of Chinese Linguistics, good words and speeches are a great help in any profession, and knowing that you can talk to a higher group with confidence can be a great affirmation of your self-esteem. It might even help your career, because those who are good at reading, both oral and knowledgeable on various topics, can quickly be advertised (and more generally) than those who have less vocabulary, as well as literature, scientific discoveries and global events lack understanding. In Honor of William S-Y. Wang can improve the reader's memory. As you read the book, you have a variety of meanings, their origins, ambitions, history and nuances, as well as various circles and sub-transfers each story. Just a little to remember, but the brain is a beautiful thing and relatively easy to remember these things. In every new memory you create a new synthesis (brain path) and strengthen existing ones, which help temporarily stop memory and stabilize mood. How cool is that?. no defined"

Full Description : "The papers collected in this volume were first presented at the 14th International Conference on English Historical Linguistics (Bergamo, 2006). Alongside studies of syntax, morphology, lexis and semantics, published in two sister volumes, many innovative contributions focused on geo-historical variation in English. A carefully peer-reviewed selection, including two plenary lectures, appears here in print for the first time, bearing witness to the increasing scholarly interest in varieties of English other than so-called 'standard' English. In all the contributions, well-established methods of historical dialectology combine with new theoretical approaches, in an attempt to shed more light on phenomena that have hitherto remained unexplored, or have only just begun to be investigated. Perceptual dialectology is also taken into consideration, and state-of-the-art tools, such as electronic corpora and atlases, are employed consistently, ensuring the methodological homogeneity of the contributions.
English Historical Linguistics 2006 makes the reader have stronger analytical thinking skills. Have you ever read an amazing book and did not solve the mystery itself? If so, then you can work on critical and analytical thinking, observe all the data provided and sort it out to determine anything. John Benjamins Publishing"
Full Description : "This sequel to First Person Singular (1980) presents autobiographical sketches of 15 eminent scholars in the language sciences. These personal reminiscences on their careers in linguistics reflect developments in the field over the past decades and shed light on the role each of them played and the influences they underwent. This book is a valuable source for scholars of the history of ideas in general and for historiographers of linguistics in particular, while it makes interesting reading for every linguist interested in the history of the discipline. The volume includes photographs of all contributors and is completed by an index of names and an index of subjects and languages.

Full Description : "The fifteen papers selected for Volume II of English Historical Linguistics 2008 have a different emphasis than those in Volume I (CILT 314, Lenker et al. 2010). Nine concentrate on the development of the English vocabulary and six on historical text linguistics, including the development of text-types and of politeness strategies. Of those in the former group, three have their emphasis on etymology, three on semantic fields, and three on word-formation, although some cover more than one of these areas. The topics include: the treatment of etymological problems in the OED; deverbal derivations formed from native verbs and from loan-verbs; the role of metaphor and metonymy in the evolution of word-fields. The field of historical text linguistics is introduced by a general survey, which is followed by more specific studies focussing on 15th-century legal and administrative texts from Scotland, on early 15th-century women's mystical writings, on medical recipes from the 16th to the 18th centuries and on pauper letters from 18th-century Essex. The book should appeal to scholars interested in English etymology, the history of semantic fields and of word-formation, as well as in historical text linguistics, politeness strategies and standardization. It provides not only theoretical considerations but also a wealth of case studies.

Full Description : "Individual Differences in Language Ability and Language Behavior is a collection of papers that discusses differences at the center of the study of language, specifically, on the various dimensions of linguistic ability and behavior along which individuals can differ from each other. Papers also review the development of techniques that measure these dimensions in relation to biological, psychological, and cultural parameters. Some papers review individual differences in language study in terms of different perspectives: that of a psychometrician's, of an individualistic's vantage point, and of a psycholinguistic's. Other papers discuss how each individual accesses, uses, and judges his language through fluency, biases, spatial principles, or a linguistic-phonetic mode. Several papers examine individual differences in language acquisition, such as "profile analysis," strategies in acquisition of sounds, second language learning, and duplication of adult language system. A group of papers addresses the biological aspects of language variation. These biological aspects include selective disorders of syntax (agrammatism), selective disorders of lexical retrieval (anomia), and cerebral lateralization effects in language processing. Certain papers explain individual differences in languages using sociolinguistic analysis. The collection is well suited for linguists, ethnologists, psychologists, and researchers whose works involve linguistics, learning, communications, and syntax.
Individual Differences in Language Ability and Language Behavior adds to the reader's knowledge. Everything you read will fill your head with new information, and you'll never know when it might be useful. The more knowledge you have, the better equipped to solve the problems you have faced.
